We went to Pingliang, a small town in Gansu Province, in order to see the Oasis Training Center. (If you want to know more, see
http://www.oasistrainingcenter.com/.) We met our friends Ruthie and Peter there, who had invited us in for a consultation, and a lot of other wonderful volunteers.
We observed classes:
Volunteer Lori teaches grammar |
Volunteer Heather teaches reading |
Volunteer Leon with a vocabulary group |
Volunteer Chris teaches business English |
Even Peter got roped into hosting a reading group. |
We learned about OTC and met students:
We also had a chance to take a hike up to Kongtong Shan, a center for Daoism.
Three visitors, two volunteer teachers, and a student. |
