Zhangjiajie and Wulingyuan National Park, Hunan, China

This national park was definitely worth a two-day visit.  For more details see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhangjiajie_National_Forest_Park
Many of the main sites are jammed with Chinese tourists,
but there are plenty of quieter trails too.

We hiked on many trails, often involving steps, but we also joined the local throngs taking this elevator (the highest in the world, they said).

This cable car, besides saving many steps, was also quite thrilling.

We felt as if we had stepped into a Chinese landscape painting (or a green and larger version of Bryce Canyon).
